He was predeceased by : his parents, Harvey William and Edna Faye Duncan Reed; his brothers, Ovilla Faye "Vickie" Ator, Clarence Reed and Harvey Lee Reed; and also Willie Estil Reed.

He is survived by : his spouse Jean Piper; his daughters, Victoria Michonski (Mark) and Renee Reed Tearney; his grandson Max Michonski (Mary Beth Masterson) of Chicago; and also, Tom Piper (Gayle) of New Jersey and Mickey Piper of New Jersey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to West Central Illinois Leathernecks or Toys for Tots.
