He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Winter and Myrtle Shelton Winter; his son Daryl Winter; and his brothers, Russell "Joe" Winter, Carl "Cotton" Winter and Earl "Brownie" Winter.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Braun; his daughters, Darlene Koch (Bill) of Versailles and Donna DeGroot (Terry) of Winchester; his grandsons, Cody DeGroot (Jozy) of Winchester and Chris DeGroot (Quinlan) of Murrayville; and his great grandchild Owen DeGroot.
