She was predeceased by : her parents, Ernie and Sadie Deege; and her husband Melvin Akers. She is survived by : her daughters, Judy Jacobs Murrieta (Gary) and Jewel Donathan (Rocky); and her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Carter, Clayton and Rylee Jacobs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, to cure Parkinson's disease.
