It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Rigdon Middendorf of Jacksonville, Illinois, who passed away on May 7, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin D. Middendorf and Lois Rigdon Middendorf; his grandchildren, Shelley Jo Hynes and Logan Hynes; his great grandchild Sunday Grace Smith; his brother David Ward Middendorf; and his sons-in-law, Paul "Henry" Hynes and Kevin Watkins.
He is survived by: his former wife Sharon Marie Kelly; his sons, John Richard "J. R." Middendorf (Dottie) of Jacksonville, Shelley Marie Hynes (Mike Magner) of Jacksonville and Crista Shonay Middendorf of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Ashley Garrett, Jena Smith (Matt), Kelsey Gebhardt (Greg), Jordan Watkins, Macey Hynes, Dietrich Reardon (Isabella), Kellen Reardon and Anna Middendorf; his brother Garland Alvin Middendorf (Sydney) of Columbia, MO; and his sister-in-law Carol Middendorf of Jacksonville. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County Fair Board for the construction of the Richard Middendorf Grandstand Handrail Fund.
