He is survived by: his children, Reg Benton (Cynthia) of Jacksonville, Cyndy Benton of Jacksonville, Debbra Benton Heimgartner (Peter) of Raleigh, NC, Amy Albers (Craig) of Jacksonville, Jim Cawthon (Cyndi) of Plymouth, IN and Gary Cawthon of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Allison Guidish (Nick), Lindsey Benton, Natalie Garver (Luke), Rob Benton, Andrew Frields (Kara), Dustin Prather, Samantha Heimgartner Boles (Evan), David Albers (Taber), Maddy Albers, Steven Albers (Kayleigh), David Cawthon (Leah Becerra), Sarah Cawthon and Scott Cawthon; and his brother Tom Benton (Dorothy). He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
