He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Sr. Wheatley and Retha Wheatley (Retzer); his sister Diana; and his nephews, Robert and Jason Luttrell.

He is survived by: his wife Karla Collison; his siblings, Orville Wheatley Jr. (Marla) of Jacksonville, Donal Wheatley (Lora) of Murrayville, Wanda Adams of Jacksonville and Marla Wheatley of Jacksonville; and his nieces and nephews, Eric Neunaber, Chris Wheatley (Annie), David Luttrell (Joanna), Marc Luttrell (Erin), Sheri Harris (Larry), Lisa Hughes (Benjamin), Kristi Luttrell (Zach Stenemeyer), Pamela Wheatley, Kimberly Wheatley, Theresa Wheatley, Sylvia Woolfolk (Mike), Bryan Wheatley (Leah) and Mike Beddingfield. He is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
