He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oliver and Nora May Wilder Hayes; his wife Vera B. Bridges Carter; his son Larry David Hayes; and his siblings, Russell "Bud" Hayes, Gladys Freitag, Eloise Tatum, Lucille Wheeler and Mildred Walker.
He is survived by: his son Daniel Ray Hayes of Foley, Alabama; his grandsons, Jeffrey Paul Hayes of Jacksonville, Brian Todd Hayes (Marcy) of Jacksonville and Robert Hayes (LaTausha) of Springfield; his great grandchildren, Danielle Long (Bradley) of Jacksonville, Ian Daniel Hayes of Jacksonville, Drew Hayes of Jacksonville, Jude Hayes of Springfield and Suzie Hayes of Springfield; his great great grandchildren, Quest, Lennox and Ledger Long; his nieces, Pam Phelps (Chad) and Kim Miller (Tom); and his nephew Mark Bridges.
