He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Shaffer and Laura English Shaffer; his brother Loyal; his nephew Thomas Loyal; and his sister-in-law Nancy (Clair).
He is survived by: his brothers, Kenneth (Rose) of New Castle and Clair of Utah; his nieces, Jan, Cheryl and Lisa; and his nephew Jay. He is also survived by 10 great nieces and 6 great nephews; and 4 great-great nephews.
