He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Newton and Freda Rachel Gowin (Baum); his siblings, Mildred Fritz, Arnold Gowin, Raymond Gowin, Norman Gowin, Donald Gowin and Wilbur Gowin; and his in-laws, Ted and Irene Sisco.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Gowin of Jerseyville; his children, Robert Alan (Reba Gowin), Kelly Rene (Tom Retzer), Gayle Leann (David Prough) and Ronald Eric (Joan Gowin); his grandchildren, Tracy Gilmore (Ben), Tabitha Bortz (Don), Jonathan Gowin (Alison), Jared Prough, Sarah Wilson (Kevin), Jillann Beasley (Brandon), Drew Retzer (Kellie), Katie Gowin and Ethan Gowin (Ellen); his siblings, Joyce Tappy of Glen Carbon and Ronald; and his siblings-in-law, Pam Gowin of Jerseyville, Meda Gowin of Jerseyville, Viola and Raymond Cray of Garfield, Arkansas.. He is also survived by his 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home (1308 IL-109, Jerseyville, IL 62052). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at the Oak Grove Cemetery (801 E Spruce St, Jerseyville, IL 62052).
Memorials may be given to the Ronald McDonald House or to the Tunnel to Towers, two causes that reflect the heart of a man who believed in helping others.
