We announce the death of Thomas Smith of Jerseyville, Illinois, who passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 56. Thomas will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Crotchett. He is survived by: his mother Barbara Ketchum (Crotchett) of Jerseyville; his children, Taylor James Smith of Jerseyville, Kaylin Mae Root (Ryan) of Lafayette and Mitchell Bryce Smith of Jerseyville; his granddaughter Rachel Allison Root; his brother Michael David Alexander (Jennifer) of Gillespie; and his father Lonnie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home (1308 IL-109, Jerseyville, IL 62052). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at the Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the family, to assist in the placement of a monument at Tom's gravesite.
