He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Thomas and Minerva Evelyn Blades (Lappin); and his siblings, Leroy Blades, Robert Blades, Paul Blades, Gene Blades, Helen Summers and Betty King.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean (Emerson); his son Billy Blades (Nichole) of Johnston City; and his grandson Alec Blades of Johnston City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
