She was predeceased by: her parents, Ronald Emo and Alice Emo. She is survived by: her husband Robert; her children, Stacey Pitts (Jake) and Michael Kalberg (April); her grandchildren, Camden, Hayden Pitts, Mason, Noah and Simon Kalberg; her sisters, Jackie Manning (Robert) and Kathy Siegel (Tom); her niece Christy Malbon (Chris); and her nephews, Dr. Nick Siegel (Nicole) and Mark Manning (Kelli).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

“I worked with Cindy for some years. We shared many conversations together. I am so sad to hear about your loss. Such a good person - I knew she was also a strong person when she shared with me the many drives through dark cornfields to and from Northern to earn her Masters - and sadly about her absence when her mom had a tragic car accident close to her home. She continued to teach - her smile returned - and I remember a kind note (on wood) from her after an intramural speech. Rick A.”
