He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Buss and Sabina Buss; and his siblings, Marilyn Klotz (late David) and Robert Buss. He is survived by: his wife Mary Agnes "Mazie" Buss; his children, Michael Buss (Leslie), Patrick Buss (Kim Wysocki-Buss), William Buss (Janet), Susan Freudinger (Paul), James Buss, Christine Offerman (Paul) and Kathryn Osburn (Andy); his siblings, Paul Buss (Annette) and Mildred DeLong (late Richard); and his in-laws, Joanne Buss and Tom Johnson (Patricia). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
