He was predeceased by: his wife Maureen; his parents, Francis J. and Marie; his sister Mimi; and his granddaughter Darby Cappel.

He is survived by: his children, Edward Jr. (Molly), Daniel, Senator Meg Loughran-Cappel (Jason) and Kathleen Goin (Scott); his grandchildren, Kyle Loughran, Jon Loughran (Tessa), Abby Haddad (Yusuf), Cassidy Loughran, Riley Alessio (Vince), Brennan, Nolan Loughran, Joy, Ezekiel, Benjamin Cappel, Samuel Goin (Taylyn), Jameson Goin (Kendahl), Daniel and Guinness Goin; his great grandchildren, Jay, Avery, Carmen, Aurora, William and Elise; his siblings, Francis Loughran and Kathleen McGrath; his friend Gerald Whalen; and his nephew Timothy McGrath. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
