He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton Avent and Margaret Avent; his sons, Terrell Scott and Allen Coney; his brothers, Timothy Avent, Huri Avent and James Harris; his stepfather L. B. House; and his sisters, Linda Townsend, Eva Caldwell, Wanda Avent, Paula Avent and Rosie Avent.
He is survived by: his wife Pamela Coney; his mother-in-law Mary Scott; his children, Maurice Avent, Debbie Hickey and Keisha Givens; and his sister Betty Bobo. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
