He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilford Smith and Mary Frances Smith; his sister Carla Casarez; his nieces, Shelly Partilla-Tozzi and Stacey Partilla; and his daughter Jana Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Debora Powell of Joliet; his children, Jennifer Cherven (Doug) of Plainfield and Michael Smith of Saint Petersburg, Florida.; and his grandson Jason Cherven of Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Forsythe Gould Funeral Home (507 S State St, Manhattan, IL 60442). A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the same location.
