He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cavins and Georgia Cavins; and his wife Deloris Jean Cavins. He is survived by: his son James Dean Cavins; his daughter-in-law Lisa Cavins; his grandchildren, Kristin Cavins, Carabeth, Ben Rahtjen, Micaela and Demacio Gaskin; his great grandchildren, Isabella Rahtjen, Chandler Rahtjen, Finnegan Rahtjen and Ahsana Gaskin; his brother Kenneth Cavins; and his siblings-in-law, Nina Weathington and Lyman Edmondson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Sonntag Funeral Home (1500 Black Rd, Joliet, IL 60435). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
