We announce the death of Leslie Edwards (Joliet, Illinois), born in Isola, Mississippi, who passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 80. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Edwards and Ethel Bell Murry; his wife Minnie Simpson; and his siblings, Walter Murry and Luvenia Murry.
He is survived by: his daughter Alicia Davis (Demetrin Davis); his siblings, Maewillie Stewart (Harlee Stewart), Virgia Murry-Tate (Pastor Louie Tate), Hazel Bass (Victor Bass), Brenda Murry, Ilean Wiggins (Anthony Wright), Minister Janet Gared, Lisa Jackson, Willie Murry, Jr. (Gabriele Murry) and Timothy Murry; and his grandchildren, Jasmine, Joslyn, Jamin and Jewel Sims.
A wake was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the St John MB Church (104 E Zarley Blvd, Joliet, IL 60433). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
