He was predeceased by : his parents, Carlos Gurley and Willma Gurley (Musgrave); his stepparents, Paul Davis and Ann Gurley; his parents-in-law, Ted Goins and Susie Goins; his siblings, Lori Duncan and Bernard Davis; and his brother-in-law Jeff Goins.

He is survived by : his wife Peggy Gurley; his children, Rachel Gurley (Kevin Washer) and Michael Yana (Ivy); his grandchildren, Lily, Holly, Allie Yana, Drake and Cheyenne Roach; and his siblings, Carlos Gurley (Sharon), Mike Gurley (Melissa), Paula Wright (Rick) and LouAnn Roquemore (John). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great friends.
