He was predeceased by: his son Flavio Chavez; and his parents, Don Carmen Chavez and Sra. He is survived by: his wife Guadalupe Chavez; his children, David, Gutberto, Angelica, Lorena, Vianey, Rocio, Richard, Daisy and Sandra; and his siblings, Manuel Chavez, Jesus Chavez and Carmen Chavez. He is also survived by grandchildren and twenty-eight loving great-grandchildren, three fond brothers and one kind sister.
