She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph A. Stelbrink and Virginia Stelbrink (Kadell); her spouse Thomas Eugene Benz of Anselm's Catholic Church; and her brothers, Dick Stelbrink and Jim Stelbrink.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sherri (Chuck MacLean), Cindy (Dave Hestir) and Laura (Terry Woodring); her grandchildren, Maria Crigler (Tanner), Mandi MacLean, Alex Keneipp, Rachel Keneipp, Leann Woodring and Taylor Woodring; her stepgrandchildren, Megan Trimble (Ethan), Bailey Quinn (Alex) and Ben Hestir (Kim); her great grandchildren, Carson and Avery Crigler; her brother Mike; and her siblings-in-law, Cathy Stelbrink, Frances Stelbrink, Jim Benz (Mary) and Dan Benz (Sharon).
A prayer will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 3:30 PM at the St. John's Catholic Church (414 3rd St, Carrollton, IL 62016). Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at the St. Anselm's Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, honor JoAn by picking up litter along the roadside, just as she often did. Memorials may be given to the St. John's Development campaign, Jerseyville Public Library, or to a charity of one's choice.
