She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Bruce and Anna Bruce; her siblings, Pauline Bruce, Mamie Hunter, Herman Burton, Willie Bruce, Minnie Baxter, Louise Shelby and Katherine Price; and her grandson Marco Chandler.
She is survived by: her daughter Ruby Chandler (Ora); her grandchildren, Ruby Ann Shelby, Johnny Short, Jr., Otis Chandler, Brien Miller (Tammie) and Connita Hill; her great grandchildren, Andrea Michelle Wright and Andre'Michael Wright; her nieces, Inez West and Mary Martin; and her close friends, Iola Mobley, Sarah Robertson, Valerie Snow and Mary Tate-Johnson. She is also survived by three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Morning Star Baptist Church (570 N Harrison Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901).
