He was predeceased by: his parents, Will Davis and Eva Davis; his sons, Sylvester Davis Jr. and Tarence Johnson; his siblings, Willie Frank Davis, Johnnie Lewis Davis, Willie Lee Davis, Lewis Earl Davis, Annie Ruth Knight, Sarah Davis and Lula Davis; his nephew William Bell; and his friend Patricia Mobley.
He is survived by: his sisters, Susie Ward (Daniel) of Croton Hudson, NY, Edna Bell of Kankakee, IL, Catherine Goodwine (David) of Columbia, SC and Theresa Davis of Kankakee, IL; his children, Crystal Davis-Smith (Demetric), Anthony Davis Knight (Nichole), Marla Davis, Sylrita Davis, Kanekia Jones Paden (Johnnie), Amber Johnson, Sylvia Johnson-Reese (Michael), Tedra Johnson, Tiffany Davis, Markeem Davis, Jasmine Johnson, Malcom Johnson Memaysha Mobley, Kijafi Mobley, Cornell Mobley and Odell Mobley; Linda Davis. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, May 23rd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lax Mortuary (187 S Greenwood Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
