He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Hilgendorf and Lucille Hilgendorf (Rife); and his son Kenneth M. "Ken" Hilgendorf. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Scott; his children, Franklin Hilgendorf (Melissa) of Carthage, TN and Lynn Hilgendorf (Steve Louderman) of Victoria; his daughter-in-law Shellie Hilgendorf of Kewanee; and his siblings, Dave Hilgendorf (Becky) of Clinton, IA, Judy Long of Clinton, IA and Joyce Ayers (James) of Clinton, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 3:30 PM at the Rux Funeral Homes (507 S Chestnut St, Kewanee, IL 61443). Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Saint John Paul II Parish (406 W Central Blvd, Kewanee, IL 61443).
Memorials may be directed to Saint John Paul II Church, Visitation Catholic School, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
