He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert D. DeReu and Joyce L. DeReu (Wiley); his stepmother Jackie DeReu; and his grandson William DeReu. He is survived by: his wife Edith Mae Hall; his children, Michael DeReu (Nicole) of Mascoutah, Blake DeReu (Jessica) of Kewanee, Nichole Aleshire (Aaron) of Olympia, WA and Cassandra Kubinsky; his siblings, Kevin of Kewanee, Jimmy DeReu of Kewanee and Nancy Bates; and his grandchildren, Thomas, Wyatt, Walter, Weston, Walker, Alexis, Maddison, SáRyah, Kemistri, Ayonah, Judah, Cherish, Olivia, Bailey, Brayden and Braxton.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Rux Funeral Homes (507 S Chestnut St, Kewanee, IL 61443). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
