He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Charles Cowin and Evelyn Whitehead Cowin; his wife Sharon Cowin; his children, Christy Fletcher (David) of Mt. Vernon and Tony Cowin (Jodi Morgan) of Kilbourne; his grandchildren, Sarah Lipe (Aaron), Benjamin Fletcher (Morgan), Logan Cowin (Morgan), Luke Cowin (Abby) and Nicole Force (Tanner); his great grandchildren, Arabella Fletcher, Autumn Fletcher, Stetson Cowin and McKenzie Force; his sister Lorena Gilmore of Petersburg; and his brother-in-law Butch Shick (Laura) of Michigan. He was also cherished by his family and close friends.

Memorial donations may be made in Roy's name to Kilbourne Fire Department.
