He is survived by: his significant other Janet Duncan; his children, Kristan Thurston (John) and Michael Nisbet; his grandchildren, Justin Thurston (Katie), Jeremy Thurston, Johnathan Thurston, Zachary Thurston, Chloe Nisbet, Zadie Nisbet, Max Nisbet, Kara Majeski and Alisha Marinez; and his sister Elizabeth Wherry.
