He was predeceased by: his parents, Chuck Keafer and Rosemary Keafer; his wife Rhonda Lee Reck; his brother Jack Carter; his nephew Matthew McHugh; his in-laws, Warren and Barb Reck; and his pet Midnight.
He is survived by: his daughters, Krystal Orozco (Ron) of Silver Lake, WI, Brooke Gainer (Andrew) of Trevor, WI and Whitney Carter of Silver Lake, WI; his grandchildren, Hailey Ventura (Andrew), Aliyah Warren, Savannah Orozco, Weston Gainer and Myah Shoop; his siblings, Kathleen Cassidy (David) of Sarasota, FL, Maureen Rowe (Brad) of Glenview, IL, Daniel Carter (Jane) of Chicago, IL and Eileen Kilgallon (Dennis) of Lake Villa, IL; and his close friends, Janet Racina of Wauconda, IL and Steve Bluemel of Largo, FL. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch (1055 Main St, Antioch, IL 60002). Mike was always there for anyone in need, helping many who struggled during the Covid crisis, volunteering at the Sharing Center in Trevor, WI and volunteering at the Wauconda Moose Lodge, where he was an elf for the children at MooseHeart during the holidays.
