He was predeceased by: his parents, Silas Rush Mountsier Jr. and Margaret Mountsier; his wife Sylvia Thomas Mountsier; and his siblings, Robert Mountsier, Jack Mountsier, Bill Mountsier, Sally Dietrich and Betsy Diachun.
He is survived by: his children, Tom (Tracy) and Amy (Tim); his grandchildren, Ryann Brewer (Will), Erin Wahl, Thomas Wahl and Caitlin Timmins (Jack); his great grandchildren, Hue Logan and Celine Brewer; and his brother Silas Rush Mountsier III (Graeme).
