He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Tanaka and Sachie Tanaka (Fukiage). He is survived by: his wife Deirdre (Flannery); his daughters, Hillary and Adrienne; his grandchildren, Christoph and Athea; and his brothers, Steve (Carol), Rob (Michiko) and John (Joan).
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Wenban Funeral Home (320 Vine Ave, Lake Forest, IL 60045).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's honor to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care or ALS United Illinois in support of ALS research and awareness.
