He was predeceased by: his parents, Royce Bodell and Thelma Holmdahl. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Eames of Denver, Colorado.; his children, Karstin Bodell (Dirk Swanson), Bradley (Katie) and Brian (Lisa); his grandchildren, Brenner, Charlie, Jack and Kai; and his sister Carol Tveit. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. James Lutheran Church, or the Cool Food Pantry in Waukegan, Illinois.
