He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Sopata and Stella Sopata; and his siblings, Marie Henry, Joseph and James Sopata (Cindy).

He is survived by : his friend Margery Sopata of Lake Forest, IL; his daughters, Lisa Sharma (Sajjan) of Canton, GA, Kimberly Fleuchaus (David) of Lake Forest, IL and Cynthia Sopata of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his grandchildren, Daniel, Kiran Sharma, Eva, Gabriel and Pia Fleuchaus; and his sister-in-law Barbara Sopata. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
