She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Edward Knippen and Mabel Knippen; her daughter Beth Farlow; her sisters, Mary Dewey and Patricia Church; her husband David Ruehlman of Lake Forest, IL; her sister Bernice Koltz of Rockford, IL; her daughter Michelle Hans (Rick) of Lake Bluff, IL; and her grandchildren, Benjamin Hans and Katherine Hans. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep in Waukegan, IL.
