She was predeceased by: her adoptive parents, Sherman Gray and Mabel Gray (Stivers); her husband Clarence E. Buchanan; and her siblings, Eugene Watts, Mary Ethel Thompson, Lenore Goetz and Dorothy Lantz.
She is survived by: her children, Joan Sibert (Scott) of Jerseyville, Mark Buchanan of Lawrenceville, Anita York of Lawrenceville, John Buchanan (Brenda) of Bridgeport and Ellen Vandermark (Richard) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; her sister Louise Szeles of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her grandchildren, Jason Sibert, Jeremy Sibert, Joshua Sibert, Chase Vandermark, Abbie Shreves and Sally York. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations in Berniece's memory may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
