He was predeceased by : his parents, Elmer Henry and Florence Fahr (Meinke); his former life partner Peggy Lou Gard (Sweeten); his sons, Roy Gard and Terry Ross Gard; and his sisters, Melva Pfitzinger, Eleanor Cornwall and Marjorie LaVrey.

He is survived by : his children, Lou Ellen Bean (Brian) of Lawrenceville, William E. Fahr II (Susan) of Lawrenceville and Cindy Thacker (Phil) of Chauncey, Illinois; and his stepson Brian Montgomery (Lindsay) of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Central Christian Church Youth Group or Salvation Army.
