He was predeceased by: his wife Caryl; his parents, Walter Garling and Mary Garling; and his siblings, Wallace Garling and Marian Smith.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kim Kujawa (Floyd), Susan Gray (Gary) and Beth Howell (John); his grandchildren, Brent Kujawa, Stephen Kujawa (Lauren), Zachary Howell, Cara Howell-Scott (Ryan) and Jane Howell; his siblings-in-law, Rosalie Lind and James Connelly; and his pet Wally. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
