He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Curtis Smith (Janice Smith) and Janice Smith (Stocks); his children, Melissa Goebel (Ryan), Beth Smith of Lena and Benjamin Smith of Monroe, Wisconsin.; his grandchildren, Wil, Rylan, Violet Smith of Monroe, Madalyn and Payton Goebel of Lena; his sister Nadeane Reed (Frank) of Lena; his siblings-in-law, Linda Quinn (Timothy) of Lena, Vicki Watson (Ron) of Lena, Elaine Gift (Wayne) of Lena, Lynn Wichman of Manchester and Jerry Fangman of Iowa City, Iowa.; his close friend Mary Tessendorf; his in-laws, Clark and Barbara Wichman; his sister Sue Fangman; and his brother-in-law Steve Wichman.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to FHN Hospice and the Eleroy Cemetery Association.
