He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Spinhirne and Beulah Spinhirne (Brinkmeier); his in-laws, John and Evelyn Esmond; his sister-in-law Melodie Scheider; and his brothers, Robert and Douglas Spinhirne.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Esmond of John's Lutheran Church; his children, Greg Spinhirne (Dawn) of Lena, Anita Streckwald (Kip) of Lena and Susan Rupp (Brian) of Marion, IA; his grandchildren, Jordan, Drew Streckwald, John Spinhirne, Morgan and Ethan Rupp; and his sisters, Kay Hagie of Rockford, IL and Sharon Koch (Kenny) of Lena. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
