He is survived by : his parents, Dean Baarda and Judith Baarda; his wife Alana; his brother Vance (Sarah); his sister-in-law Marla Greenspan; his nieces and nephews, Benjamin Baarda (Brooke), Evan Greenspan, Ryan Greenspan, Brendan Greenspan, Rebecca Andlauer (Russell), Rachel Baarda (J. T. Allen) and Hannah Baarda; his great-nephew Dean J. H. Baarda; and his great-nieces, Naomi and Louise Andlauer.

Memorials may be given to his father's alma mater, Drake University.
