It is with sadness that the passing of Gary Cox (Libertyville, Illinois) is shared. Gary, born on April 3, 1950, passed away on September 19, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son Joey. He is survived by: his wife Janet; his daughters, Sarah and Lizzy (Steve); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Shane, Tyler, Raven and Dakota; and his close friend Chloe.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the McMurrough Funeral Chapel (101 Park Pl, Libertyville, IL 60048). The military honors will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:15 PM at the same location.
A Vietnam veteran, Gary remained proud of his military service throughout his life and worked diligently to preserve the history of both his own service and that of his father, donating treasured military artifacts and memorabilia to local museums so future generations could learn from their sacrifices.
