He was predeceased by: his parents, Demetrios Papathanasiou and Georgia Papathanasiou; his siblings, Vasiliki Cosmos (Nick), Katherine Vambakas (Nick), Despina Demerakos (Argyri), Stelios, Christos and Magdalena Papathanasiou; and his nephew Sam Cosmos.
He is survived by: his wife Silvia; his sibling Haralambos Papathanasiou; his nephew Gus Cosmos; and his niece Mary Granato (Peter).
