He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe J. Lessen and Bernice Lessen (Bruns); his granddaughter Olivia Nelson; his siblings, Nora Mae Lockenour, Jim Lessen and Marvin Lessen; and his siblings' children, Timothy Lessen, Jake Lessen, Kevin Lessen and Kathy Hickey.
He is survived by: his wife Charlene Lessen; his children, Sheila Nelson (Jeff), Daniel Lessen and Ashley Klockenga (Aaron); his grandchildren, Jordan Nelson, Abbey Smith (Conor), Camden Nelson, Lexee Klockenga and Adrienne Klockenga (Camden Uhlry); his great grandchild Bennett Crewse Smith; and his brother Larry Joe Lessen (Beverly). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Research Center, or to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight and will be accepted at the funeral home.
