He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Abel and Doris Winters Abel. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn "Kathy" Abel of Litchfield; his children, Jamie Evans (Richard) of Litchfield, Dawn Rosentreter of Hillsboro, Jessica Otto (Gary) of Litchfield and Chris Abel (Julie) of Litchfield; his grandchildren, Zachary, Ian, Valerie, Hannah and Lexi; his great grandchildren, Dylan and Langley; and his sisters, Patricia Rushton of Litchfield, Dianne DeNeff of Godfrey and Joyce Madden of Springfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service (700 S State St, Litchfield, IL 62056). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 6:15 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Litchfield Food Pantry and the LCUSD #12 Building and Trades Program.
