We announce the death of Richard Burdell Sr. of Litchfield, Illinois, who passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 88. Richard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mose Burdell and Cassie Burdell (Frederick); his wife Vonda Groves; his siblings, Billie Jean Pesavento, Bobby Jordan, Betty Jordan, Charles Burdell, Freddie Burdell and Phillip Burdell; and his brother-in-law John Lee Klekamp.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Lee Burdell, Jr. of Litchfield, IL and Kim Janway of Duncan, OK; his niece Shawn Barto of Litchfield, IL; and his siblings, Barbara "Butch" Klekamp of Litchfield, IL and Raymond Burdell (Franny). He is also survived by niece and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Litchfield Family Funeral Service (700 S State St, Litchfield, IL 62056). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to Litchfield High School Soccer Program.
