He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter C. Long and E. Elizabeth Long (Gerhardt); his wife Evelyn Lorraine Basse of John's Lutheran Church; his siblings, Robert, Roland Long and Roberta Marr; his niece Ramona Marr; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Basse.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Long of Loami, Denise Bandelow (Mike) of Loami, Paula Speaks (Keith) of Franklin, WI and Darryl (Leza) of Loami; his grandchildren, Mary Bodine (Jeff), Ray Bandelow (Shelly), Jason Bandelow (Kara), Nicke Minder (Jeremy), Brandon Long, Aaron Speaks (Sarah), Jacob Speaks and Jordan Speaks; his great grandchildren, Autumn, Ashlyn, Madison (Tyler), Morgan, Michael, Matthew, Avery, Lucy, Charlie, Emma, Evelyn, Emerson and Harper; and his great great grandchild Phillip Ray.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home - New Berlin (714 E Gibson St, New Berlin, IL 62670). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church (300 E Gibson St, New Berlin, IL 62670).
