He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Dowell (Jack) and Edna Dowell; his wife Judith Reid (Judy); his siblings, Vivien, Sue Dowell and Terry Dowell; and his son-in-law Kenneth Rashid.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jack Dowell of Plains, MT, Gail Dowell of Montrose, IA, Mike Dowell of Dallas City and Penny Dowell of Tennessee, IL.; and his children, Linda Doss (Bill Merschbrock) of Fort Madison, Sarah Rashid of Fort Madison, Bill Dowell (Lori) of Burlington and Kelly Dowell (Nancy) of Fairhope, AL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
