He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel C. Murphy and Lenora J. Murphy (Steinkraus); his wife Kwang Cha; his brother Samuel Murphy; his nephew Clayton Murphy; and his great-nephew Bryent Smothermon.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael E. Murphy (Tim Ganser) of Omaha, NE and Shawn C. Murphy of Rineyville, KY; his siblings, Wanda Stolzer (Rhein) of Loves Park, IL and Kenny Rhein of Long Point, IL; his siblings' children, Norman Murphy (Mary Ann) of Bridge City, TX, Tsipora Mowers of Loves Park, IL and David Laatz of Streator, IL; his great-niece Ujina Yoon Park; and his friend Francis Batkiewicz.
