He is survived by : his nieces and nephews, Dennis Mertes (Grace), Karen Schmitt, Susie Brandner (Kevin), Dan Mertes (Danell), John Mertes (Carol), Julie Trotter, Joan Grayson (Grace), Jeanne Hirkala (David), Todd Heider, Corey Heider and Scott Heider (Ann); and his siblings-in-law, Al Heider and Elsie Mertes.
