With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gary Smith of Louisville, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Orloff and Mildred Laferne Smith (Montgomery); and his wife Mary Kathryn Shafer. He is survived by: his sons, Gregory Lavern Smith (Kim), Jeffrey Scott Smith (Lisa) and Rodney Lyn; and his siblings, Leland Smith (Betty), Wanda Shroyer (Bill), Rita Cosner (Hallet), Harland Smith (Helen June "Cookie") and Jencie Butcher (Pete). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Oskaloosa Cemetery (North St, Xenia, IL 62899). A burial was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gary's memory to either Bethel Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp.
