She was predeceased by: her parents, Bruce VanHouten and Pauline VanHouten (McCullum); her husband Larry Petersen; her brothers, Gerald and Dale VanHouten; and her in-laws, Edward, Marzella Petersen, James Petersen, Bill Petersen, Phil, Sue Petersen, Darrel Petersen and Marty Petersen.
She is survived by: her son Ryan (Jody Petersen) of Effingham; her grandchildren, Tyler, Macy, Colin and Blake Petersen; and her siblings-in-law, Allen Petersen, Rosie VanHouten, Joyce Petersen, Karen Petersen, Loletta Petersen and Terri Hillyer (Leon).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joyce's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
